Parts of Kruger National Park was flooded (roads, bridges, rest camps) last week, but most are back to normal:

Please be aware that parts of the Kruger National Park (Mpumalanga) is currently experiencing a flood.  There was a cyclone over Mozambique that caused heavy rains, thus the rivers in KNP flooded the park.  We have lost a Kia Picanto already, with another 2 vehicles that are stuck in the area.  Thankfully, our clients were airlifted out of the area, but our vehicles stayed behind.  No vehi cles are being allowed in or out of the affected areas. A document called Kruger National Park Floods under General Documents indicates the flooded areas.

Please make sure all staff inform our clients, that these areas will be closed off, until further notice.  This will be for at least a week, if not longer!

100th Rental: Mr Michael Davies

Mr. Michael Davies, a PC client receiving a gift from Mthandeni at his pick up from King Shaka last night. (please excuse the Woodford Signs as we could not use the Hertz counter due to customer load). Michael Davies has done 100 rentals and we still have 3 months to go.

We gave him an Ernie Els 2011 Springbok World Cup wine hamper which he was ecstatic with. I (Darryl) also composed a thank you letter from Mthandeni, myself and the Hertz family.

Hertz SA and Good Fellas making South Africa’s roads safer

Hertz SA has partnered with Good Fellas, in a Service Level Agreement that will see customers of the two companies reducing risk on South Africa’s roads and getting home safer.

Good Fellas is a members-only chauffeur service providing a highly accessible alternative to driving under the influence of alcohol. Drunk driving is one of the biggest threats to road safety in South Africa with research indicating that 50% of people who die on the roads have a blood alcohol concentration above the legal limit of 0.05 grams per 100 millilitres.

Car rental group Hertz, are doing their bit to help reduce road accident deaths, by teaming up with this leading chauffeur service provider and joining them in their stand against drinking and driving.

As a Hertz SA customer and Good Fellas member drivers can now make use of the service, without the risk of being in breach of their car rental agreement, or more importantly a risk to other drivers on the road.

For customers this means they can now enjoy themselves more responsibly and with greater peace of mind because Good Fellas will get them home safely and without hassle in their Hertz SA rental car.

the local police.

This Hertz Crew assisted the film production with 100 cars which were used to recreate a Hertz Pick Up and Returns Location on top of the City

Lodge Airport Hotel in Johannesburg.  They were on set watching Paul Walker in action, including a car chase scene at ORTIA Cargo.  So watch

out for the launch of VEHICLE 19 - opening and closing screnes are a Hertz location (not the first time in a movie!).  The movie, written and

directed by SA's own, Makunda Michael Dewil.

We recently signed up the new Umhlanga Holiday Inn Xpress for self drive and transfer. The account has been growing steadily

over the last 3 weeks.

Last night Natalie from Sales and Darryl from KZN C/Drive, attended the first anniversary cocktail evening and spent some time

mingling with a few of our customers from the travel industry.  Over dinner we had some quality time with Andrew the GM and

more importantly Gary Foster the group CEO. We explored the opportunities of expanding the account country wide.

All in all a lucrative evening and some good teamwork!

The clients name is Nomusa Masondo and her husband. They are from the Mandini area in Zululand. Nomusa won a prize, a trip to Portugal for two on the Symphonia, for selling insurance shares to people in the surrounding area.

Strat Equity who sponsored the prize also picked up the costs of a Mercedes chauffeur for them. Hertz donated the champagne and glasses.

When Siyabonga arrived at the pickup point there was a huge number of the local community there to bid them Bon Voyage.  They are very humble people and Siyabonga out of the goodness of his heart loaned them his digital camera for their trip when he learned they did not have one. A fantastic gesture.

It was a great start for my team for the week end. Two ecstatic customers. The prize winners and Strat Equity.
